Photorealism by Blender Guru, Andrew Price at the Blender conference

Just thought to bring this some attention. Well worth a watch.

Thanks! Some of this I already knew, but while using it, I never see a real difference, an improvement. Probably due to bad monitors and render resolution. But still learned new things, it’s very clear explained.
Funny thing is, I always turn down shininess … it’s forbidden by Andrew
And I see that black body is still in Blender. After 2.8 it was gone, I couldn’t find it, then forgotten. Going to start using it again.

Blender is so much fun!

Thanks from me too. I just bookmarked it for future reference. Very interesting information, and Andrew Price always has a very relaxed way of presenting his projects, so I always like learning from them.

Very interesting indeed. And perfect timing now when I’m trying to learn how to make realistic looking materials for my train. Thanks!

Yes I rarely mess with specular anyway, but it was interesting that is should be left.
Also was interesting how even cartoons look better with realistic lighting.

There was another talk by someone working on an updated Principled BSDF node that was very technical but basically there will soon be a new version of it with improvements.
