Performance on GearVR

I’ve hit a showstopper with my GearVR game. We’re supposed to target 60FPS, but with the OVR camera and a simple ground plane, I’m already only hitting 70 and as soon as I add a skybox or simple terrain, I’m crashing to 10FPS.

The same hardware can run Gunjack perfectly smoothly, so it’s something in Unity. Any ideas? TIA

Has anyone done the Unity course and ported their Zombie Runner to VR? How was the performance?
