I constructed about a dozen “strike scenes” that I wasn’t satisfied with. They looked just like every other “strike scene” on Google - and just as fake. I finally decided the only way to get an authentic scene was to set up an actual strike animation and then select a single frame from that. In order to do that I had to range far outside this lesson to learn how to set up the actual physics, lighting, materials, rendering, etc. I ended up with a 2 1/2 second strike movie clip - 160 frames @ 60 fps. The result is shown below. Even after all that the “strike scene” I like best is from frame 166 of the movie - 6 frames outside the clip shown.
