Order Matters

I was puzzled. I couldn’t seem to figure out parenting. In Edit Mode, I’d select the second bone, then get of Edit Mode, then Shift-Select the Lower Arm, then Control-P…and then I’d not see “Bone” in the Parent Menu. The only items to select in the mentioned Parent Menu were "Object, Object (Keep Transform), Vertex, and Vertex (Triangle). It was most perplexing.

Alas, the order in which I was selecting parent and child objects was my mistake. All sorted after I watched the thorough instruction again.

Onward!

You can also organize hierarchy by just pulling icons in the outliner section.
Just click on the icon and pull it
1
than release it over icon that you want to set parent.
2
or release it on the side to clear parent.

Thank you kindly, Sam_Hamsord. I was used to the method you mentioned having had a little experience with same when using Cinema 4D Lite. Being new to Blender, I wasn’t sure if I ought to veer away from the course instruction.

Again, thank you for taking to time to offer some help. Tips hat.

There is always more than one way to do something, and if the end result is the same… there is no RIGHT way
