Ogre course- Multires-> apply base does not match new shape

When I "apply base " in the multires modifier, it makes the meshes in edit mode waaay thicker than before, and does not match the sculpted shape. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I hope my screenshots explain the problem.
