Great stuff David - I’m struggling the most with materials too but I’d say your materials work on the lamp and the diner are fantastic. Neat aesthetic choices with the chess pieces too!

I was struggling more with layering materials, I.e. adding grunge textures and mixing colours and things like that. I was looking at game textures and wondering how they were achieved.
I got most of the way there, some things still baffles me though. Which gives me things to learn
