I ended up building a theme around what free asset packs I could find. I used 9 or 10 different packs including sound and particle systems. I don’t have the chops to create my own art assets so I just tweaked and modified the ones other people made. I’m much more “techy” than “arty”. That being the case, I made quite a few changes from the course, adding in smooth enemy movement, particle effects to indicate base damage levels, and randomized pathing. I also moved the sound Fx for the particle system to the particle system so that I could have an emit sound as well as an impact sound.
This game play video is just the first 3 waves (under 2 minutes long) which I let destroy the base in order to show the game play loop. Btw, that micro-second pause by the enemies at each block only seems to happen when I’m using the Unity Recorder.
