My take on the Fantasy Castle

So, this is my take on the fantasy castle. There are a few things I don’t like (the clouds look awful, a bit of shading in the rock is somewhat messy, and a few other points), but overall I think I’m relatively happy with it.

I do find it hard when drawing to stick to the quick and decisive lines, they often don’t exactly end up where I want them  . So, especially when finalizing, I do fall back to “old habits”, to make it look nicer…

I’m drawing on the kitchen table, so that probably makes it a bit harder too to draw from the upper arm so to speak. Still a bit confused about what the proper positioning is supposed to be… Would I need some sort of canvas, or is drawing with the paper flat on the table also possible… Guess I will need to practice all this to see what works best.

Well, anyways, here is a picture of what I drew (Used 2H and 4B pencils on ordinary printing paper, took a photo with my mobile, probably should have scanned it in ;-)).

I think it’s more about anatomy. Hand and fingers are grate for tiny details. But for smooth, long lines (as in sketching) the arm movement is better in this.

Arm is rough, hand fingers details.

Have fun!
