This is the outside of the model I would like to do. Loads of detail. Will be difficult for me. I believe pushing our self is part of the learning process.

This is the style I am aiming for. I want to go Diablo 3 art style something different for me. This will either turn out great or be a great disaster.

You certainly have many pieces to make but if you divide them into two sets, one whole and one crumbling, maybe that would make your life easier in terms of modularity? Detail, I think, is made later with bump maps.
