Meta Balls
After some sculpting and adding Ears and Eyeballs along with legs and feet. I used curves for the ears then applied a thinness to them after doing a back bevel.

Ears look really disproportionate, however its your model :P.
I really love the face though, and the eyebrow area, looks really well done!

Depends on the breed of Rabbit. 
First attempt at hair. Ears need work spots were there is no hair and its at the point of running out of memory with GPU rendering.
