I attempted to create a balcony around my simple lighthouse, but it ended up looking like a combination of a lighthouse and a structure resembling a lentil. The lighthouse is situated on a sculpted island.

It has its charm.
But try to stick closer to the challenge it self.
And learn the basics first.
Then you can always come back and do a proper model.

I agree with you. I got carried away while playing with shapes and ended up creating something different. The challenge was to make a rocky island, which I did, and I also added the lighthouse from a previous lesson.
