I’m new to rigging so I decided to keep it simple. I used Michael’s sketch for the swing arm and used various reference photos to come up with the base and lamp head. Instead of a box, I thought it would be interesting to use something in the real world. I decided to go for a book, but when I drew it, I realized how small it was, so I placed a second book on top of it. This is just a concept for now. Maybe I’ll add a stack of book or adjust the proportions of the lamp moving forward. I do want a try a different swing arm design, but I’m afraid it might be too complicated and difficult for me to rig. Maybe it would be best to keep it simple for now.

Looks a good plan sketch. Stick to the simple lecture lamp for first rigging work.
