My first "app" (non-game) - educational Multiplication app for kids

Hi guys,

I’ve released what is probably my first ‘complete’ app. This is the first time I’ve used Unity to make an “app” as opposed to a “game” and it’s really opened my eyes and given me something to think about in terms of creating more apps. I picked up the foundational ideas for this from the Unity 2D course. I always find myself getting distracted from actually completing the course because I veer off into my own projects on the side. I reckon I’ve been working through this course for about 2 years now :S I’m at the Tilevania section so almost there.

Anyway, I regard this release of the app as my ‘MVP’ - its a solid base imo that i can interate on and improve. I learnt a lot during this project about the Canvas and ‘OnClick’ events, and a slightly different application of a singleton, and implementing very limited Unity Ads (an interstitial video right at the end of the ‘test’ mode before you get your results - it was actually fairly tricky for me to get this working as intended)

I’d love and appreciate it if you guys would check it out, leave a rating, and give me your ideas and feedback on how I can improve it. For now it’s only up on the Google Play Store here:

I see other apps like this have had 100k - 1million installs! I’m hoping to hit my first milestone of 10 :p I’ve tried to look into App Store Search Optimisation in an attempt to get it found more organically. We’ll see how that goes. Overall I’m proud of this achievement (which for me is significant)

Whats next?

  • I’m going to create different test sets to give people more variety (including a timed mode if I can work that out)
  • I’m going to look into PlayerPrefs (which I know nothing about right now) to record high scores/best times
  • implementing some of your feedback? let me know your thoughts!

Thanks guys,
MG

I want to check out your app sounds very useful, like I could have used it when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing, I thought I was the only one forever the multitask-er, I’ve been working on this blender course for around a year and I’m enjoying learning but I always get sidetracked. Now I don’t feel soo bad about not being more focused.

Thanks I appreciate that. Take a look if you get the chance and let me know what you think. The idea was to just try and provide some learning for kids that are trapped at home during all the worldwide lockdowns that are happening, and it seemed like a simple enough idea.

In terms of getting sidetracked, I’m not doing the courses with the goal of finishing them or getting a certificate - I’m really keen to learn new stuff and develop new skills, so when I get the opportunity to venture off the beaten path i take it. I think doing this has helped me understand the concepts alot more. I’m actually getting comfortable at this now - it’s taken time, but in this regard I’m thankful for lockdowns and getting to spend more time at home - it’s given me the opportunity to focus on learning again! Real life also has a way of getting in the way sometimes

I want to check out your app. It sounds beneficial like I could have used it when I was a kid. I used to use https://flipabit.dev/ when I started making apps. It was easier than Sketch or Photoshop, and I had great results. Thanks for sharing. I thought I was the only one forever, the multitasker. I’ve been working on this blender course for around a year, and I enjoy learning, but I always get sidetracked. Now I don’t feel soo terrible about not being more focused or consistent. Perhaps you could show us that app that got you so inspired. I really would love to see it.

The number of colleges and universities who have no or little automation for managing patching and modifications to their ERP application surprises me at least You might not be one of them but if you are what if there were only one thing you could do Best Nurse Resume Writing Services Online - ResumesPlanet You need the help of a skilled resume writer to make sure that your application is appealing and will catch the eye of recruiters.

I’m impressed by your initiative in developing an educational multiplication app for kids. It’s crucial to provide children with engaging and interactive tools that make learning fun. Your app seems to align perfectly with this objective. The inclusion of colorful visuals, interactive quizzes, and a user-friendly interface will undoubtedly capture the attention of young learners. Keep refining and expanding the content to cover various difficulty levels and additional subjects. Best of luck with your app, and I hope it becomes a valuable resource for parents and educators alike!
