I am taking the “How to Get a Job in the Video Game Industry” I am going through the steps of getting to my dream job but I am not exactly sure the path I would need to take.
My Dream Job is to be a Gameplay Programmer, I want to work with a gaming company and make videogames. I want work with writing out code, testing the game and working with the designers if possible on the game development.
I also hope to have my own games I can make on my own as well.
Though I am not sure on the exact steps I believe it would have my going through the line of:
- starting as a Junior programmer or developer
- Become a regular programmer/developer
- specialize in more programming related projects
- Being a base gameplay programmer (Beginner level)
- Intermediate Gameplay Programmer
- Lead/Senior Gameplay Programmer
These are the steps I think make sense in moving up to reaching that level and job that I want to achieve.
I am not sure if these are the exact right steps needed. Any feedback is welcome.
