My Block Breaker

Custom ball, great piano melody reminiscent of some sort of old western ballad, custom bricks/paddle, and a great collide noise are all I really changed from stock.

Hope you enjoy!

This is really nice @lol2dubs, I especially like the music. I played 5 games and didn’t get passed the first level, grrr… hehe… came within 3 blocks on the last one too! I will play some more.

If you want any feedback or suggestions for additional features just say, I wasn’t sure whether you wanted to do more with it or continue moving on with the course so I’ve not popped up anything as of yet

Hi @lol2dubs . I played 5 or 6 times and I didn’t pass the first level , for first level i think ball is too fast.

When I playing, I met a situation. I didn’t change ball position, it stuck on the right side. you can see the picture. Maybe you can redesign you paddle collider or change little little ball x position.
I like music and effects. (sorry my english :frowning: )

I’m just moving on. I’m pointed towards a 2.5d environment for my first
personal project, so I’d rather get a good grasp on 3d concepts and
animation than spend more time on this game. I’m sure I could do that on
this game, but laser defender is so much more interesting to me.

Cool - well I shall look forward to seeing your version of Laster Defender

There is code in place to slowly adjust the position of the ball on each bounce to avoid this situation.

I’ll admit that code probably isn’t effective enough for a “real game” environment, but I found it suitable for this release since I’m just moving on.

Were I to continue to produce this game, I would definitely add a more advanced reaction script to the ball for each paddle hit. Do note for anyone thinking about this, I’d only suggest applying said advanced reaction to the paddle collision rather than the bricks, because you really want all your physics reactions to be what a player would expect.

On thinking while typing, I’d actually probably end up adding some sort of jagged-y walls before I’d mess with the bricks/paddle because, again, you really want things the player interacts with to be predictable. If I were to add script to completely avoid the situation you posted, (in my limited experience) the only way I can think to do that is to create a wider range of movement for the collision reaction effect, thereby possibly creating situations where the ball does something that doesn’t seem realistic physically.

Just my amateur 2 cents.
