Modeling my FF14 character low poly

I used textools to create the ref images and I plan to keep working on this as I go through the courses.

This character looks really well done. There is a lot of detail even for low-poly.
Please keep posting as you work on this. It’ll be fun to see the progress.

Seems to be coming on well. Nicely set up reference.

Wait, what is textools? I would love to model my FF14 character this method as well, and maybe if possible my WoW character as well.

Textools is a 3rd party tool for viewing textures and models from a local FF14 installation. It also lets you export models as an obj, which is how I did the refs.
Once you have it installed:

  1. Search for a piece of equipment you want to use
  2. Go to the Models tab and select the character’s race (Au’ra and Mi’qote use Hyur as a base)
  3. Click “Add to FMV”. It’ll open a new window, the Full Model Viewer. Repeat for each part of the body
  4. Once you have everything, use the export button at the bottom of the FMV window.

Head up though: doing anything with the model in blender can be slow, it comes with the full textures and rigging.
I don’t know about WoW, but it’s been around long enough I’m sure there’s model viewers for it too.
Good luck!
