Schallers (learning a lot o guitar components with this project lol)
I’m really proud of myself on this one, I managed to make it super clean!

My brother is a bass player so I can really appreciate this. Excellent work.
Was testing Vertex Color as a mix factor and this came out
Still going to try to replicate something similar the original one… but too lazy to unwrap stuff and make a texture in gimp or so… lol
You have put a lot of work in the details of the guitar!
But with darkness of the scene, the dark and busy texturing, these beautiful and fine details disappear.
I know, it’s the creators vision and you have something in your mind. It’s all in the details
Don’t give up!
I’m just testing some stuff. This is not a scene
I won’t give up don’t worry
I’ll drop the lazyness and unwrap the top part of the body, make some textures to use as factor to the Mix Shader nodes. I will try to replicate the shapes of the original “skin” of the guitar.
As planned a lot more like the original skin
And since I made a material where I have a single “Main Hue” Value to change the color in 3 parts of the nodes… I can have it whatever color I like
Excellent, Capa!!! I love your model!
This is looking fantastic!
I absolutely adore the procedural textures you’re using on the body and the fingerboard.
Also, I love John Petrucci. He’s probably one of the most talented electric guitarists to have ever walked the planet.
@Jada Thanks Jada!
Thanks, Mark
Despite I could have tried to make the “Wood” procedural, it’s really a diffuse texture for the main part, the same I used for the “Neck”, then I used some ColorRamp and some MixRGB to give color + the Hue. Which after I plugged just a Value node to each Hue.
The fingerboard is just a “Wave Texture” with some distortion and ColorRamps
Used a Mapping Texture Node to rotate the orientation.
If you notice that the intensity fades slightly to the edges is because there is a Mix with a Gradient
And then I made 2 black and white texture with Gimp, to use as Factor.(for this I had to unwrap the top part)
One to make that “V” Shape of the darker part on the bottom and the other to define the shape of the middle which looks like a “Bullet” to me.
After that was just Mix Shader with VShape texture as Factor and plug the output of this to another Mix Shader using the BulletShape texture as Factor.
About JP, totally agree.
I’m not a Guitarrist myself but I’m a fan of Dream Theater / Liquid Tension, and what JP does is amazing.
Might be necrotizing this post, but I just wanted to chime in and say this whole thing looks really cool!
Well done. Especially that close up Eevee render of the neck and strings. So much detail.
Thanks!
Yeah that eevee close up ended looking pretty good.
You should check the final render scene
Hey, there! This was a fascinating read and cool to show how you did this in the process. I’m currently learning Blender by myself, but and wondering if you have this for sale? I’d love to deconstruct it and learn how you did this.
Welcome to the forum.
This is a rather old thread May 2019 so you probably are unlikely to get a response, but it does happen sometimes!
You could try an image search on google or otherwise as well as a name search? May be check out Renderosity and other websites. Hope that helps. Of course given it is a labor of love it may not be for sale.
Thanks man, glad that is still inspiring someone after so many years.
I still have the project files here. Probably would need to adapt something for new blender versions thought.
No, never did for selling just as practice to learn my ways in subsurf
Well, if you’re interested I would love to buy a version from you. Majesty is my favorite shape and I always get wild color ideas to send to my friend at Ernie Ball.
Fixed some stuff for Blender 4.3 ,added a Light to cast some shadows, because the floor was too flat.
Here is how it’s looking now.
And here is the file Scene_JP_Majesty_Guitar_2019_v4.3.blend
I only packed the main textures to the guitar itself which only uses one texture and 2 masks, UV + shader tricks.
But the HDRI, floor, walls, amp… will look pink you will need to change those.
That looks great, my friend. Awesome work.
