Mid-Section Challenge A Small Scene - Igloo and Fishing Spot

I was having so much trouble with the door.
For around 2 hours figuring out the controls of Blender.

Later I just added new mesh for the entrance and stitches the face together,

After several hours I finally finished my scene.
Eevee render:

With the first lesson of Blender, you don’t have all the information you need to make complex construction with a mouse click. But you did a good job! Nice scene, nice colors, and well lit.

Just follow along the course, there is so much to learn.
Have fun!

Welcome to this site.
Take some time to look around and take part, support and encourage other students.

Turned out very well. As you go through the course you will learn more ways to make things.

Speaking of colors and lighting,
I have a certain small part that I like from Eevee render like Igloo’s interior shadow has soft light.
But, some part of the Cycle render has nice shading on the surface for the most object in the scene.
It would be nice if I know how to mix the two.

I assume we will be learning some advanced lighting in further chapters later.

Should I learn to do that by compositing after rendering the scene using something like Lightroom or After Effects?

Thank you for the welcome! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Eevee and Cycles are very different ways to render the scene.
Eevee is more like Game engine related, fast but with most options switch off to keep fast rendering. Eevee has its pitfalls. Cycles on the other hand it has also a learning curve but has better physics which takes longer to calculate. Hence is much slower.

Don’t think too much about this. I know everybody wants to make beautiful things after the first lessons. But there is so much more to learn. Just follow the course, learn Blender first. Then make beautiful scenes.

You can do composting with other tools. You are not obliged to do everything with Blender.
But Blender has a post-processing feature, where you can manipulate many rendered properties as with Photoshop.
Be patient or ask if your are in need of support.

Ah, I see.

I’m sorry for thinking too much. As a student that has been using Adobe Illustrator for years. I always had the thought/mentality of tweaking a design with Photoshop and sometimes Lightroom for post-process if I am not happy with the color of the base product.

If Blender has the post-processing on its own, then I would love to try that after I am done with the course. I will patiently follow the course structure for now.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
