Only time I’ve encountered something with this kind of look is when I imported an .svg object and then scaled it up to a size I could work on. It’s not an answer but maybe it’ll point in the right direction.
Because of the use of hotkeys. And hotkeys being different in some panels.
And no visual clue if you have given a hotkey command.
You can get unexpected results.
If I look at your problem, it looks like vertices (loops) have been connected.
So, always, make copies of your progress! There is no way back, other than ctrl z
.
Blender has a nice, smart file version increase number tool.
