As always I tend to get too creative adding extra details and not exactly following the instructions. This time I ended up trying to figure out how to make the staircase on a completely different angle than 45 degrees. It is not easy to get things right. I guess experience will help in the future.
To sort it out I snapped together the top of the staircase object edge with that of the pyramid, then modified the bottom in such a way to allow for some detailed decorations (lions?) on each side of the staircase.
