Subdivided a plane (simple), made a marble valley and subdivide modifier (Catmul-Clark). Animated the camera to follow the marbles.
I found I had several issues with marbles clipping and falling through. I solved with several steps:
- increase “Steps per second” and “Solver iterations” under “Rigid Body World” on the scene properties (not sure if necessary, but that was what was suggested when I searched Google)
- add a triangulate modifier (I think I had non-planar quads that was confusing the physics engine, as soon as I added this the marbles stopped falling through)
- on the physics rigid body collisions section set “Source” to “Final” (it was using the non-subdivided version before and clipping through the model)
Added some PB materials, kicked off a render and went to the pub
