Mall rocket

I started the Blender Environment Artist course this week and I’m really happy I did - learning how to use textures and shaders is something I really need to dig into. To nail it all down, I thought I’d do a side project as well, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while - there’s a long way to go still, but I’m loving the shader editor right now. I’ll update with pics along the way
Behold, Mall Rocket!

Thanks Ray! Ahaa it’s definitely got that Fallout Vibe, that’s kinda what I’m aiming for although we’ll see how it goes with a kid in there

Coming along nicely, but the day just flew by. The only hassle I’ve had so far is trying to use the Array with a curve to get the studs on the seat back in a circle - no matter what I tried I couldn’t get it to pick up the circle/empty as the target object. At least doing them by hand makes them look a little irregular and… hand made
A few more details, some lights, a mall plant maybe and then a kid…

Arrays in Blender are a pain in the rear. I had a hard time making this fan for my mech. All I wanted to do was to rotate the fan blade around the center point. Which should be simple, but noooo …

Someone in the community on discord provided some pointers.

Geez Ray, that took all of five seconds for me to do, thank you for this!! Not quite as easy as Illustrator but at least it works!
What course? Rabbit holes of course!

Blender secrets is the way to go. I bought his eBook. Worth every cent.

Blender Environment Artist is next. I’m back to the Ogre course.

The Blender Secrets guy is amazing, I’m so glad you told me - love the fact you get the information you’re looking for without a whole hour long presentation :joy:

Rocket pretty much done, I think. Getting quite used to Blender now, at least at this level.
Mall plant pot done, plant to come tomorrow. Maybe a kid…
