Despite what the instructor said, I tried to make a Bishop with a notch on my own, mostly to just see if I could do so. It involved the knife tool; most likely in an unoptimized manner, since I did it for both sides of the carve. Still, after erasing some edges, putting in a few new faces, and moving some vertices, I’m thinking it looks as good as it could be.

Probably a harder way to get the effect but there are many ways to do things in Blender!
