First, I consulted my game design document to decide what abilities I will give to each weapon.
You can see the temporary settings on the sketch below:
As you can see, some weapons are better at close or long range, or are able to disable drones without destroying them. I hope that in the final game it will be fun to choose wisely which weapon to use depending on the situation
But before reaching that very distant milestone, I tried to create each particle system to stick with current game design choices
Machine gun bullets are red and go up to 400 meters, nets are green and go up to 600 meters, and electromagnetic beams are blue and fast but only go up to 200 meters:
