Been farting about with textures and went with this porcelain texture instead of the metallic look. The reflections of the metal were giving some terrible looking artifacts in such an empty scene.
Porcelain is made with a couple of voronoi textures mixed together and put through a color ramp…
Can’t wait to start animating this!
Oh, and lampshade made with voronoi texture and mixed with a translucent shader, tried to make it look like a light clothy looking material, could still do with a bit of tweaking to get the affect I’m looking for… might have to do some digging!
Excellent lamps. Perhaps the shade on the metal one is rather thick? It would probably be a thin metal construction.
good shout, I’ll have a look at it tomorrow and see what’s happening. I think you are right, it looks a little chunky - but it was the kind of look I was going for to really accentuate the differences between the two.
