I was just finishing up with the linked duplicates video of the tutorial and foudn that one of my linked houses whenever i hit G to move it around it automatically made a duplicate… idk what i did different… all other houses in the linked “group” arent doing the same thing… its only this one house…Cause and fix?
This sounds strange: Pressing "g" and duplication happens
.
I can imagine, that the object, under the influence of the g
command, was already duplicated!
It is for blender no problem to have multiple objects, of the same type (duplicated) on exactly the same location.
- Just delete the duplicated object(s)
i thought that too, so i moved and tried again… and again… and again… and again… how can it ahave duplicated 6 times at least. i stopped at that. ill try and just delete the object. its not like i cant link duplicate the object again.
I just would like to know what i did to do that so as to avoid (or use) in the future
edit* deleting stopped it from doing (as it didnt exist anymore) so it was obviously something with this object.
What happens to a lot of students is that by using hot keys, some actions are immediately done. Notorious is the e
extrude hotkey. When press a copy has been made on the same position. Even if you press ESC
to cancel, it is already done. Having duplications.
- Check also your list of objects, and see if you have duplications (seen as -000, -001 numbers). See the image, Five cubes on the same spot.

Please give full screenshots with any questions. With the relevant panels open.
This can be done by Blender itself, via the ‘Window’ menu bar top left-hand side.
On that menu dropdown is ‘save screenshot’.
