Line Tracing and Sweeping

I am currently following " Unreal Engine 5 C++ Developer: Learn C++ & Make Video Games" course on udemy and i am at video number 85. The instructor says that as the codes perspective it is in a pitch black room it doesn’t know where i am looking at. But i have a question think the code as a person it knows whole the world’s details in our level in mathematical data like scale positions of our all the objects. And the code knows in which position now the player is and what is the angle of the camera and the engine use these data to render the mathematical data to visual data. So it has to know what is in front of me why we need a line tracing and sweeping for ? . This is the same question of mine in other way - imagine me in a dark room and i know every objects position my my room and i know how many steps i walked through the door and what angle i turned if my brain can process so now i am in this position an i am looking in this angle i surely has to know using calculations in my head so this object has to be in front of me in this distance ,right?. If i have that kind of brain functions why i need a flashlight ?
