Lighting Cycles vs Eevee: Blender 3.0 tip for blurry shadows

The shadows for the Eevee render were originally blurry, but by reducing the radius to 0.001m, it acted much more like the cycles.

I’m starting to realize that a key difference between Eevee and Cycles is that depending on what you’re doing, the trade-off is how much time it will take to render versus how much time will be spent on design aspects and troubleshooting.

Yes I found that ‘reducing the radius to 0.001’ worked, but also another poster pointed out ‘turn off soft shadows’ is an option that does it too.

Cycles is just better but speed matters to many areas of Blender use. So Eevee has its uses. Especially animation, where things are moving anyway and not studied as single images.

For some reason I couldn’t find where to turn off soft shadows.

Render properties tab, Shadows dropdown, tickbox in there.
