Light Material

I can’t seem to be able to get the Icosphere to behave like a light source, I change the material type to an emission but it doesn’t light up the scene no matter how strong it is, and it has a white colour even though I set it as yellow.

P.S.
After checking the internet I found out that in v2.8 the Eevee render doesn’t handle emissive objects well, so a solution is to do everything in cycles, but they should really fix that issue. I know cycles is much more realistic, but I work faster in Eevee, and even if it’s just a rough representation, I’d like to be able to see what I’m doing.

I suspected as much but it’s hard to come up with a diagnosis without something to base it on.
