I like the idea of what you are trying to achieve with the dark, almost black environment, but it means that there isn’t sufficient light in the scene.

I like the idea of semi silhouette image and the darkness brings out the reflection very well. Perhaps zoom in more so that the lit part takes up a larger proportion of image. That way you can still keep the thirds thing going. In that light a prominent over sized moon [ full or part] in one of upper corners would help balance of image. The moon could give ambient light around the sky and background water closest to it? This would also bring out horizon line.
