Not a huge fan of the materials but I do like the model quite a bit

Yeah using plain “boring” materials can feel rough some times. I’m the exact opposite, my modeling is so-so and I always feel like it’s boring and uninspired, but then I’ll go and spend hours in the shader editor tinkering with stuff.
That said, it looks great on the modeling front! Looking up tutorials on youtube for basic texturing/material editing you can get some decent results fairly easily if you don’t mind learning the Shader Editor a bit. Mostly for now though, just focus on mastering all the modeling techniques so you have good quality models to apply all the fancy textures to later on 
As far as posting the youtube video, go for it
