Lavalamps, IK limits

A curious thing happened, when I added a metaball to my scene, with an emission material, it was 4,400,000+ (that’s MILLION) triangles! it froze up blender, & I had to delete the scene, fortunately I had a backup copy, but what could’ve caused that?
Anyway, I make backup copies of every scene now, just in case.

It is amazing, did you did it from Blender?

Dimensions are important. Check in your item side panel (the n key in the view-port) to see what your dimensions are.
Then compare that to your metaball’s Resolution Viewport size.

If the meta-ball division size is a million times smaller than the object’s size, then the expected result is to crash Blender.
To fix just have the meta-ball division size 10 to 1000 times smaller than the object… like, keep it in a sane range, you know?. Remember the general rule: No matter how good your PC is, it’s not omniscient.
