I encountered a minor issue where, if I tried to exit edit more after shifting the end of the bone before extruding another one out of it, the object it was parenting moved as well. The solution is to not leave edit mode before extruding. I’m not entirely sure why this was the case, but it was a fairly minor issue. This is coming along nicely!

You can always detach bones from objects. And re-attach them after corrections.
But, it is a hard process, easy to overlook something.
