Wow! Animation of this magnitude should be hell o lot of work actually. Would like to see frequent updates on the project.

It took a while to figure out the right geometry, but I managed to model and rig the main expanding cradle for the lamp. The current meshes were just place holders to make sure everything moves correctly during animation.
(GIF lost some quality when I converted it from a MKV file)
