Besides my sketch looking like it was drawn by a child. I’d say it’s coming along well. I kept my base pretty simple. Might come back and change it later.

Looks fine. Sketch is good and is only a place holder, guide, so will not be the final result. Serving its purpose.

You need to work on a little hinge mechanism next - or there usually a simpler solution to these things…
You could add a little cover that would act to protect fingers, where a hinge would go. Like those press/ cupboard hinges that are incased in a housing.
