I was tempted to create the lamp base by extruding from a mesh circle, but I’m happy I decided to learn how to use the curve technique instead. I’m sure it will come in handy in the future.

Yes sometimes things in the course look easy to do by other means as well. but the simple shapes are being used to show you other ways that have different advantages.
