One broken computer, one old computer and one very under powered laptop later, I’ve managed to finish this section. 
Couldn’t bear to try rendering this in cycles though so evee it is.

Great story and filming it.
Hardware like laptops are not build to run heaving programs all day long.
I had the same problem. Started four Blender sessions to render stuff at night.
next day I had video card problems. Still have when I my machine gets hot.
