Knife tool

Hi!
Im stuck with cutting doorway into wall with knife tool - I dont know what to do… The problem is that I cannot select/cut/stick new points to cut a doorway. There are cases when I can create new cutting points on other edges, but then I still cannot get full cut and join cuts together so that I can delete unwanted faces later.

Even if you have X-Ray option turned ON, the knife tool can only select (cut, knife) the face in front of the visible side. And not the back faces, visible through the X-ray mode.

That means that every time Im trying (in x-ray mode) to make new cutting point that doesnt stick - I`m actually targeting edge on the back?

Yes - Try to switch off X-Ray

Also, sometimes the tool seems not to work, because of bad mesh. edge, face vertex duplications. Try merge by distance to clean-up.

• knife cut, then press space to apply cut
• position view for a next knife cut
• knife cut starting at the last endpoint, then press space to apply cut

Thanks! Worked for me!
Merge by distance helped a lot - so, that means my mesh is messed up. After merging, cutting worked as expected!
