I’m using the knife tool because I want to create an edge here, but as the picture shows, only the edge is formed at the bottom. Why is the middle part and the edge at the top not formed.

For cutting things, it’s best to have X-Ray mode turned off because the knife tool cuts only into the visible front part.
Also, check for obvious problems as for face, edge and vertex doubles.
Do a merge by distance first.

There is no way I can do as you say, because the surface I want to cut is a surface that remains inside an object. So I have to use xray mode. That’s how it’s done in lesson. But I found a solution in a different way. I used Bisect mode instead of Knife mode. I deleted the unnecessary edges with the dissolve edge command.
