it works for the most part but it will not do verticity to verticity
Not sure what you mean to say.
But if you have a face with multiple vertices (> 3).
You can select two vertices and press ‘j’ to join them, haveing a extra edge in this face.
(some sort of knife-tool, but more exact using two vertices)
FedPete is right, though it should be possible to do the same thing using the knife tool (I just tested both).
Can you post a screenshot or a video etc. so we can see what you’re experiencing?
With the knife tool the odds are the geometry you want to cut is slightly behind some other geometry so it will not work. You have to be able to see the geometry for it to function on it. If need be you can rotate the view round during a knife operation to facilitate this by holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse to pan round for a clear view of the outside of the geometry.
But we are all blind here with nothing to see!
