King Piece model

For the cross on top of the king I scaled the tiny extruded octagon only on the X axis. The next thing I did was to dissolve the furthest vertices (on the x axis) as well as the vertices at Y = 0. This resulted in a rectangle which I scaled slightly out on the y axis. I then extruded upward and scaled inward on the X axis, extruded upward again, and one more time with a scaling outward on the X axis. The middle two faces on the left and right side of the X axis were extruded outward and scaled on the Z axis to complete the cross on the top of the king.

I am not sure how well this will 3D print with such a small support holding the cross on top.

Blender has a 3D print plug in, to give you information on 3D Print readiness.

Looks good. I would work out the scale it will be when printed and the size of that connection. I suspect some enlarging would make it more secure.
