For some reason, the king was the hardest to think about design. I wanted something a little more, but in the end - the original design of the chess pieces aren’t flashy so I only took little jumps of flash in my design. The inlaid glow in the body of the pieces was as flashy as I could make pawns, but then the more advanced pieces really are fairly plain except for the knight where it’s a full horse head sculpt. In working with the rook, I liked that light coming up from inside the piece and that seemed to be a fun direction with the king’s crown.
