Why do we keep the old input system if the new one is present? Doesn’t the new system have a greater breadth of support than the older one?
Simply because of simplicity, it’s extremely easy to use, no need to create an asset or anything, just one line of code and it works. So while developing the game I like to keep it simple.
However yes you are correct the new input system is much better in every other way, so yes in the end of the course, during the polishing stage there’s a lecture on refactoring the input to use the new input system.
