I think three loops (on a sphere) are impossible. Because when they meet, you’ll need a hexagon to connect, which breaks the loop.

Absolutely - you are correct. If a face loop, by definition, is made up of polygons with 4 sides, then each crossing loop must take two sides of the polygon at the cross. With 2 loops that’s all 4 sides used up.
idk how u even found 2 strait loops, heh. But its likely the higher subdivision level made them more visible or created them
