In the beginning, I have found texturing difficult. But now I love experimenting with node trees and shaders on my own, mostly without the help of videos, because at the moment I like to find out, which ideas I could develop without any distraction from tutorials and to familiarize with the noodles.
After this time of experimentation, I will watch vids and read books concerning this topic to improve my skills and workflow.
This time I have started with some raw texture painting of the cube. Then I worked with materials in the shader editor.
The goal wasn´t realism, but experimentation and creative combination of shaders and textures.
I didn´t use photo references.
In later studies, I will use references of course.
