Issues dissolving edge rings and gelometry

Greetings, I am trying to dissolve geometry, however when I dissolve the edges, it is not changiong the geometry, but it is messing up the continuity of the edges… Also, when I go into wireframe, the edges are still there however they are not selectable. Does anyone know what is going on? I am working in Blender 3.0, however just looked at it in 3.4 and the same thing is happening…

Looks like you have two bases there right on top of one another.
If they are separate objects select one and move or delete it.
If both part of one object select one with L with the mouse hovered over the geometry and move it too. Ca then delete, or separate into another object with P.

So I just figures out what was going on… Apparently at some point I had duplicated the model and thus even though I had eliminated the edges on on e model, they were still present in the other model…
