Is there a way to clip an object/mesh to a nearby edge?

I’m trying to get certain meshes that I extrude even with the meshes that are right next to it. I know that I can hold down the “shift” key to have a slower more precise way of scaling/extruding/arranging something, and I know I can hold down the “ctrl” key while doing the same to clip to squares on the grid, BUT is there a way I could clip whatever I’m arranging to a nearby edge? So I could arrange two separate meshes/objects evenly and make them seamlessly?

P.s. I tried getting it as close as possible and doing “Remove doubles” but because of the weird shape of the object I’m working with, it alters the geometry which is something I don’t want.

I am hoping this is what your asking. You could try the snapping tool to move face, vert or line, to one object, which is the little magnet on the menu when in edit mode. Be sure to set the element to snap, which is the icon to the right of the snapping tool. Or, if you only wish to merger certain verts to one another. You can manually do so by selecting the verts to merge and hit Alt M then where/how to merge…first, last, center, etc. Another option might be turn on wire frame by hitting the letter z toggle it on and off and aligning that way. Hope this helps.

@Morgaine_Christensen Thanks for the help  now I have two ways to do what I wanted to!

Excellent, is always good to have multiple ways of doing things. Some work better for some things; whereas, other methods work better for others! LOL I have the manually merging vertices to a science after having done thousands so know that one by heart! :smile_cat:
