which texture did you take?
I tried to apply a wood texture for the iris muscles.

I used the cloud-texture that comes with blender in a displacement modifier. I can’t remember if this technique was mentioned at this state in the course or I found it by playing around. Have a look at my blendfile if you are interested: iris.blend (528.4 KB)
