Independent torso/leg movement

Sorry for the potentially obvious question, but what facilitates the independent rotation of the top half of the marine from the legs? Is it all down to the blendspace or is there something set up in the character rig? I feel like I’m missing something here, as it seems crazy to me that it ‘just works’!

I’m looking at creating my own character asset and it would be useful to know.

This would be down to the model and the rig and also, yes, how you set up the animation blueprint and blendspaces as well. That needs a whole other course to deal with this.
