For whatever reason I am unable to drag materials into the sky in my Scene view to apply a new skybox material.
For those with a similar problem, here is another way to do it.
In the Unity menu bar at the top click on Window → Rendering → Lighting and then click on the Environment tab. You can drag the material into the Skybox Material field in this Lighting Window under the Environment tab.
